Summer has finally arrived at our house!! Now that Anthony is finally out of school we have come up with a summer wish list of things we hope to do before school starts up again in August!! We are in the middle of trying to move and we are already lucky enough to be going to Hawaii later this summer on a family vacation (YAY!!!) so we tried to keep cost minimal when deciding what we should do.
Unfortunately that means no Disneyland this year (umm… $600 for us just to get in???). Isabella may be just a little too young for it now anyway. Maybe next year!!
Back to our list. This is what we have come up with so far!
1. Daily walks in our neighborhood.
We kind of cheated on this one because this is something we already try to do anyway… but with Anthony home during the day it is a bit different so we decided it was ok to add this to our list! 🙂 We try to go first thing in the morning to avoid the heat, otherwise its just not enjoyable at all!
These are a few pictures of our recent walks together. In the first picture we went so early that Isabella is still in her PJ’s!
As you can see I go back and forth between taking Isabella out in her jogging stroller and wearing her in our ergo carrier. There is no real method but it is nice to have the option! 🙂
2. Summer Movie Express at Regal.
We want to try to make it to the Summer Movie Express hosted by Regal a few times while its being offered. Anthony has been in past summers with family and its always been a hit for the family kids. You pay only $1 to get into the movies. Now these movies are predetermined and not new, but for $1 I doubt many people are complaining!
3. Picnics at the Park.
We are lucky enough to have two parks in walking distance of our home (though on really hot days we will likely drive there). Both are lined with trees that provide pretty good shade which will be perfect for our summer picnics!
4. Swimming at Grandma’s house!
This is more for Anthony than it is for Isabella and I, though I do look forward to getting her in the pool for the first time… I’m just not looking forward to fitting my butt into a bathing suit just yet! haha

5. Arts and Crafts.
Back in February Isabella and I created an 8 x 10 canvas for her daddy, her big bro and her grandparents. She was only about 5 months old then but she seemed to enjoy the paint on her hands and toes (non-toxic and waterproof!!) so I think now that she is nearing the 9 month mark she will love it even more. I’ve slowly been pinning ideas on pinterest and hope to get down and dirty with the crafts department of Hobby Lobby and Michaels soon!
6. Farmers Market.
I’ve been pretty good at keeping Isabella’s diet organic and now its time to start working more on the bigger family members! We unfortunately don’t have a Whole Foods store in our area but we do live close to the Farmer’s Market that will be popping up soon. I’m looking forward to taking my family there and creating a new and healthy tradition for us.
7. Visits to see Great Grandma!
When I was younger I was very close with my grandma and I have so many great memories with her.
|This is my grandma and I when I was just a baby. I use to love playing “kitchen” with her! 🙂|
Now that Anthony is out of school I am hoping to make a few trips out to visit my grandma so that we can take the kids to do some of the fun things I enjoyed doing with my grandma when I was their age. One of my absolute favorites was to visit the Japanese gardens to watch and feed the Koi fish. Anthony has been many times himself and loves it and I really think Isabella is at a great age to watch on and smile.
8. Cousin Time!
My kids are so lucky to live nearby a handful of cousins. We already have plans to meet up with some for the Regal Movie Express and for some fun photo shoots together. We also will start having my youngest nephew over a few times a week which will be great bonding time!
9. San Francisco.
San Francisco has been a great love of mine forever. I love it there. I could have lived there if 1. I could afford it and 2. if my husband would agree to it! We use to visit frequently for both the day time adventures and also the night life. Once I became pregnant with Isabella our trips pretty much stopped. I’m so excited to introduce my daughter to the fun and strange sites of San Francisco. Anthony loves to walk around pier 39 to check out the sea lions and I know Isabella will love it too!

Last but not least, we need to visit the beach!! And since we already have a Hawaiian vacation planned for later this summer I think we can safely say this is one we don’t need to do any extra planning for!
We do also hope to do a ton of other fun things like making smores and homemade popsicles (breast milk popsicles for Isabella!! lol) and then of course this July will be Isabella’s first experience with fireworks. We have a lot to look forward to!
I will aim to keep the blog updated with pictures from our summer wish list of fun activities to share with you all! I hope your summer is filled with lots of exciting things as well! 🙂
