Thank you, Wente Vineyards for making this post possible.
You know that saying, work hard, play hard?
Before we had kids together we certainly lived life to that motto. Fast forward a few years and a couple kids and… well, now its more like work hard, play a little, work harder… must. get. sleep.
Adulting and parenthood have sure done a number on us!
I am home with the kids, dealing with tantrums, clinginess and boogers daily while you spend your days working long, hard hours to support our family. Most days you wake up early and are out the door before the kids and I are out of bed and up late at night working long after we have gone to bed. Some days you spend a total of up to 6 hours driving in your car, not including the time that you are on site working. Like me, you don’t get weekends off and are pretty much always on the clock.
Unlike me, despite your long hours and lack of sleep, you still manage to walk around with a smile on your face. Every evening you come into our home with that huge smile ready to greet the kids and I with hugs and kisses.
You are literally the kindest person I have ever known and always ready to help someone in need – be it family, friends or even strangers. Its not often anymore that someone will stop their car to help a stranded driver but if we happen to pass a car stuck in the middle of the road, I already know that you’ll pull over to help push them to safety. It doesn’t matter if its freezing temperatures out or over 100 degrees. That’s the kind of man that you are.
You are a rare breed and I am the woman who was lucky enough to snag you up.
As your birthday approaches at the end of this week, I find myself filled with anxiety. How can I best show you how much you are appreciated? What in the world can I buy you to show you how much you are loved? Are there even enough words to properly express to you how much you mean to me?
You are our real life super hero and you ask for little to nothing in return. You don’t complain when you come home to a messy house or when I tell you that you need to pick up dinner on the way home. You don’t complain when I’ve had such a rough day with the kids that you come home to a crazy wife… instead you raise the bar for men every where by scooping the kids up and taking them on an adventure so I can gather my sanity.
Even after all these years together you continue to amaze me with your kindness, generosity and love. In the spirit of your upcoming birthday as well as Chardonnay Day on May 25th, I would like to toast to you with our favorite Wente Chardonnay.
I am the luckiest woman in this world because I have you. Thank you for making my cloudy days brighter, my cold nights warmer and every day an absolute blessing. Happy birthday to the best husband a girl could ask for!
The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that’s what you’ve given me. That’s what I’d hoped to give you forever. – Nicholas Sparks
I love you!
