I don’t know about you, but browsing through Pinterest has made me question my cleanliness lately. I keep seeing these pins for “31 days of spring cleaning challenges” or very long and well thought out pins on spring cleaning. My home may not be immaculate or beautifully put together every day, but that doesn’t mean its not clean!
Here are 5 things I do daily that help me maintain a clean (enough) home:
Make My Bed
Why? Because it only takes a minute (maybe two) and it makes such a difference! I can’t tell you how good it feels to walk into my room and see my bed made instead of pillows and blankets scattered about. Try it! Trust me, it makes a bigger difference than you’d think!
Take it Out, Put it Away
This was probably the hardest habit to start making for myself. I had developed a bad habit of taking something out and leaving it out which eventually started rubbing off on my two toddlers. What better way to set an example then by leading the way? So everyday we have the responsibility of putting our things away. It’s made a huge difference for the kids – we no longer have millions of toys out at one time.
Keep a Clean Sink
Dirty dishes piling up can really make your kitchen look like a cluttered mess. Same with dishes drying on a dish rack. Sometimes the last thing I want to do after dinner is deal with the pots, pans and dishes used to make our meal, but I’m always happy its done and it really helps to keep my kitchen looking clean!
Wipe Down Counters and Tables
This is something I do about 2-3 times a day (because I am home with my kids). Basically after each meal you’ll find me wiping everything down. Especially the kitchen table – for some reason my kids are unable to eat a meal without at least a quarter of it ending up on the table and floor, which brings me to my next point.
Vacuum & Mop
I know this one may sound extreme to some but I’m not joking when I say that my kids literally cannot eat without some portion of their meal ending up on the floor. Maybe one day I can reduce the mopping to one a week, but for now, its more like every day. Maybe every other day if I’m lucky. If it’s not their dinner on the floor is a spilled water cup or maybe even some dirt brought in from outdoors. Whatever we come across, I’m happy to have stumbled upon the Libman Freedom Spray Mop.
Unlike other similar mops, this one is unique because it doesn’t require batteries, has a thick microfiber pad that cleans deep & is washable (up to 100 washes) and you can use your own cleaning liquid! You know what that means right? You save money on replacing disposable pads after each use! I’m pretty sure its safe to say that I’ve never loved a mop as much I love this one! I especially love that its thin enough to reach under my couches and that its neck swivels 360 degrees for extra control to reach tough spots. My kids seem to love it as much as I do, because they are the first to jump up to clean up a spill!
Do you have house chores that you do daily to help feel less cluttered?
I want this mop! I love that you can just use regular soap and water and not have to buy something special.
That mop looks actually pretty perfect for my house! Will have to check it out. Great tips.
I feel like my day starts on the right foot if I make my bed in the morning. You’re right, it does make a big difference!
Your kitchen is beautiful and so clean! Love your flower arrangements.
that spray mop sounds awesome! I need to get a new mop for our home too
This would be perfect for my apartment! Love your little man helping you clean!
Yep this is pretty much how I feel about cleaning. I’m happy if I can make the bed, do the dishes, and vacuum everyday.
