Happy New Year!
Every new year seems to come and go faster then the last and 2018 was no different. Lots of great things happened for me in 2018, and a few not so great things, but I came out of it with the power of knowledge and am ready to rock 2019!
As we’re beginning the first full week of January, 2019, I decided to share some of my personal goals for this New Year.
Take Better Care of My Skin
I have mostly been good about removing my makeup and washing my face at night, but beyond that (and a decent moisturizer), my face has been neglected. You can see it in the dark spots on my face and in the fine lines starting to creep up on my forehead and around my eyes. I really wish I had listened when others would tell me to take better care of my skin. This year I’ve already started a new routine that adds a night serum to my regimen along with SPF 30. Can you believe I am in my mid 30’s and have never had a facial? I plan to check this off my list in the coming weeks and hope to gain some knowledge about other types of things I can do to keep my skin healthy.
Consistent Date Nights
Since the birth of my younger two children, date nights have become pretty non-existent for my husband and I. This is something that has been tugging on my heart strings for some time now. There is always a reason why we should wait… the kids are sick, we don’t want to bother family asking to babysit, or we are frankly just too tired. This year I hope to change this. Maybe we can start off slowly with one date night a month but my ultimate goal would to have at least two a month. And I’m not just talking a quick get-a-way to the movies (though I do enjoy our movie dates). I want dinner and a movie. And maybe a few drinks too!
Read a Book at Least Once a Day to My Children
Reading has always been something my children enjoy and at one point we were pretty good about reading a story a night. Somewhere along the road, we lost our way. Between illnesses, busy schedules and the holidays, we simply stopped. So far we are off to a poor start, but I know that the funny thing about goals is that once you have them written down in front of you, it makes them harder to escape. We have some catching up to do, but I’m sure that we can meet my goal this year and maybe even exceed it!
Be Consistent with the Bathroom Cleanings
Because, seriously, I suck at it. We have 3 bathrooms in our home. The only one that is consistently clean is the main bathroom downstairs because that is the one our guests use. I’m thinking that from here on out Thursdays will be my official bathroom cleaning day. Wish me luck!
Be More Organized
This one is a tough for me. I use to be an incredibly organized person. Now? Full chaos. I have piles of piles, it’s seriously insane. This year I hope to get organized, one room at a time. Not only is it good for finding what I need when I need it, but it will also help save me from my awful anxiety that tends to pop up in the mist of all the chaos.
This is not to say that some goals won’t change down the road or that new ones won’t be added. We’ve got a full 12 months to the year to go and my thirst for success is at an all time high!
